Toyota Highlander 2017 Silver
Toyota has updated its mid-size seven-seat family crossover for the 2017 model year. This 2017 Toyota Highlander, which will be officially unveiled at the 2016 New York Auto Show, gets redesigned exterior and interior styling, revised powertrains and more sophisticated active safety technology. Toyota has also added a new SE sport package with visual upgrades and an updated suspension to the car.
It's hard to ignore the new face of this new product. For 2017, Highlander will feature more distinctive upper and lower grilles with different trims depending on trim level. Standard finishes will be easy to distinguish from their looks, the front grille surround on the base Highlander (LE, LE Plus and XLE) * variants is finished in silver, while the higher specs like the Limited and Limited Platinum have a chrome finish that is used and on the headlight housings.
At the rear of the car models, the graphics of the lights have been changed, and the Limited and Platinum versions have received a chrome strip on the rear bumper. On the Celestial Silver Toyota Highlander 2017 Silver Metallic and Toasted Walnut Pearl models, new body colors will be available for all specifications, while on the Salsa Red Pearl models, an exclusive color scheme will also be available for the new SE trim.
Inside, this 2017 Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum will be available with new brown leather trim. Toyota also added four USB ports (there are now five of them in the car), so that each of the passengers can charge their mobile device. For North American model versions, i.e. the Limited and Limited Platinum will offer luxurious seating with captain's seats in the second row for seven passengers, or with a sofa in the same second row. In the second case, the SUV will be able to accommodate already 8 people.
The new SE sports equipment sits between the XLE and Limited models. The new sporty SE trim level features unique 19-inch alloy wheels and a sport suspension. The front radiator grilles, headlight housings, as well as the roof rails themselves are covered with black paint. The 2017 Highlander SE features exclusive black leather seats with silver stitching. The corresponding color scheme is also used in the car door inserts.
Behind this new look is the 3.5-liter direct injection V6 engine available on the new model, which is combined exclusively with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. While the power figures for the new generation V6 are still unknown, Toyota specifically states that it "will generate significantly more horsepower" than the current car model. Incidentally, the current V6 engine on the model is 270 hp. With the exception of the base LE, all future V6-equipped Highlander models will feature a fuel-saving start / stop system.
The base car, the Highlander 4 × 2 LE, will come with a more modest 2.7-liter engine (185 hp) and a six-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Standard safety equipment includes: Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS), which works in conjunction with the Pre-Collision System (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking), Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, Pedestrian Pre-Collision System and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The systems use a variety of cameras and sensors to identify potential hazards ready to alert the driver with audible and visual warnings to prevent or mitigate the consequences of a collision. In certain specific situations, such as when the Pedestrian Pre-Collision System is operating, the vehicle may apply automatic emergency braking.
In 2017, the Highlander XLE will receive a standard blind spot monitoring system, while the Highlander Limited Platinum models will receive a Bird's Eye View Camera with Perimeter Scan as standard. By viewing the surroundings 360 degrees around the car, the system also helps the driver during parallel parking and when leaving the parking space.
The restyled 2017 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid will hit dealerships this fall.
